Featured Guests:

Sarah Marshall — writer, podcaster, and media critic best known for hosting the popular modern history podcast You’re Wrong About. Her latest project, The Devil You Know, is an 8-part podcast with the CBC that explores the tangled web of the Satanic Panic and the people who experienced it in real-time—the believers, the skeptics, the bystanders, the wrongfully-convicted—and its continued impact in our culture today.

Camille T. Dungy — author, editor, podcast host, and a University Distinguished Professor at Colorado State University who's work has appeared in numerous publications, including Best American Poetry and over 40 other anthologies. Her 2024 book, Soil: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden, was named book of the month by Hudsons Booksellers and was on the short list for the PEN/Jean Stein Award. Her first book of poetry in almost a decade, America, A Love Story is Camille's powerful testament to living and loving as a Black woman and mother in today's America. Piercingly honest and deeply compassionate, this poetry moves through the mounting griefs of contemporary American life with unwavering clarity.

Angela Nissel — author of the nationally bestselling comedic memoirs The Broke Diaries and Mixed, and a prolific television producer and writer whose credits include The Other Black Girl, Mixed-ish, and Scrubs. In her new book, Good Grief, Pass the Bread, Mom Is Dead: A Memoir, Angela chronicles her odyssey as she tries to remain "like her mother" in the face of grief. Delightfully self-deprecating, unsparing in its honesty, yet filled with wacky humor and joy, Good Grief, Pass the Bread, Mom is Dead is an unforgettable portrait of love, yearning, loss, and resilience that reveals the indelible power of introspection to save our lives.

Kassa Overall — drummer, rapper, producer, and GRAMMY-nominated jazz visionary who was raised in Seattle and studied at the Oberlin Conservatory. Kassa's latest project, CREAM, is his fourth solo album with which he pays homage to the twin passions of his youth—hip-hop and jazz drums in the tradition of Elvin Jones—transforming beloved songs from the 90s and aughts into timeless standards that are rhythmically adventurous, witty, and often sublime. He has appeared on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series, and his live performances have drawn praise from Gilles Peterson, Thom Yorke, and Iggy Pop.
